A Word of Thanks and Appreciation from the Gridiron Club
Throughout the football season there are so many people behind the scenes that help out in so many ways. This page is dedicated to recognizing them and thanking them for all that they do.
Bob Kaprielian
Bob has been the “voice of the Raiders” for many years. Referred to by many as “Mr. Watertown”, Bob is a huge fan of Watertown sports. Week after week he is at Victory Field giving fans a play-by-play analysis of the game. He finds the positive in every game, sticking by his beloved Red Raiders until the clock runs out. He is a true fan in every sense of the word. Watertown football wouldn’t be the same without him. We appreciate his dedication and loyalty to the team.
Jack Woodland
Jack has been videotaping Raider football games for the last eight years. He never misses a game. Through rain, snow, heat and cold Jack stands a top what has become his tower at Victory field. He produces game DVDs for the coaches and their teams and every year creates a football video of season highlights that is featured at the football banquet and is given to all of the seniors as a great memory of their high school football careers.
We thank you Jack. We appreciate all of the time, care and energy he puts into what he does for Watertown football.
Jackie Marchant
Jackie has been running the “The Shack” for the last six years. He makes sure that we have what we need, without question, for all of our games. He even keeps track of the weather for the week so he can purchase the foods and drinks that will be the biggest sellers for the type of weather forecasted for game days. He and his crew have probably raised over $30,000 for the Gridiron. We appreciate all of the extra time and devotion he puts into running the shack for Watertown Football.
Dan Jordan and The WHS Band
We can always count on the WHS band and it’s leader, Dan Jordan to take their position in the bleachers facing the cheerleaders. From the Star Spangled Banner to the WHS Fight Song, they play their best to express their pride for Raider football. The fans count on hearing from them each week, and we want them to know how much we appreciate it.
Jane Jackson
Jane has been part of Watertown football since the late seventies when she coached the cheerleading squads. She has been the equipment manager for several years now, getting our kids what they need to be their best on the field. Jane is also considered one of Raider football’s #1 fans. Every game you will find her on the sidelines cheering on her Raiders until the end of the game. We appreciate everything she does for the kids, the coaches and Watertown Football!
Mike Lahiff
Mike is our new Athletic Director this year. He is the senior AD in the Middlesex League and all around good guy. He has been extremely helpful and available to the gridiron, the players, the cheerleaders, the band and the coaching staff. It’s been a great first season with him and we look forward to many more!
Ed (Coach) Lavache
Ed Lavache had coached football to the kids in Watertown for years. He was a Raider himself back in the late eighties and a true fan. This year we have been very fortunate to have Ed doing the color alongside Bob Kaprielian at all of our games. It’s been a pleasure to hear Ed’s expertise and knowledge of the game each week and we are proud that he is part of Watertown football.
